TOUR # 12: SQUARE TOWER HOUSE, MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK

Description of Site/Tour: Square Tower House is one of the most unique PIII cliff dwelling sites in Mesa Verde. It contains a four-story structure for which the site is named, two kivas with partially-intact original roofing, and rooms perched on a high ledge known as the Crow’s Nest. We will discuss the ongoing architectural documentation and preservation of the site.

 

Meeting Place Location: Square Tower House Overlook, Mesa Verde NP.

 

Tour times/Length: 10 – 11:30 AM

 

Other information: Strenuous hiking, exposed cliff ledges, access by ladder. Entrance to the park is $15/car, and is valid for 7 days.
